Scientific Presentations
More than a platform for research, it is a space where ideas are shared, perspectives are challenged and scientific exchange drives medicine forward.
Oral Presentation Sessions
At the core of the scientific programme, our Oral Presentation Sessions bring student research into an academic setting built for exchange, discussion and critical engagement.
Each session is defined by its scientific field, the type of work presented and the format through which it is communicated.

Scientific fields
Our sessions span three major areas of medicine, placing each scientific contribution within the context most relevant to its subject.
Fundamental Sciences
Exploring the foundations of medicine, from molecular and cellular mechanisms to anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and the biological processes underlying health and disease.
Clinical Sciences
Addressing the questions that emerge from clinical practice, patient care and the evidence shaping contemporary medicine.
Surgical Sciences
Bringing together surgical practice, clinical evidence, outcomes, techniques and innovation across a wide range of surgical specialties.
Types of scientific work
Different approaches to medical research.
Participants can contribute through different forms of scientific work, each offering a distinct way to investigate, interpret and communicate medical knowledge.

Attending the sessions
Where scientific exchange comes into focus.
Each session opens a window onto the reasoning, evidence and clinical judgement behind scientific work. Through questions, discussion and different perspectives, ideas are examined beyond what appears on the slide or poster, offering a deeper view into the way contemporary medicine is understood, challenged and advanced.

Debate Competition
When evidence meets opposing perspectives.
The Debate Competition transforms a complex medical question into a live academic exchange. Opposing teams defend contrasting positions, challenge one another’s reasoning and respond to opposing arguments and evidence, bringing critical thinking, scientific judgement and argumentation to the centre of the discussion.
This year’s motion
TBA
We believe scientific work reaches its full value when it is shared, questioned and carried forward.
At IMSCB, every presentation becomes an opportunity to exchange knowledge, engage with new perspectives and contribute to the progress of medical science.
