Cookie Policy
What this site stores on your device, what it is for, and how to change your mind. The short answer: one cookie that remembers your answer to the banner, and nothing else.

Who we are
This website is published by Asociația Societatea Studenților în Medicină din București (ASSMB), the association that organises the International Medical Students' Congress of Bucharest, with its registered office at 8 Eroii Sanitari Bvd, District 5, Bucharest, Romania. ASSMB is the controller of any personal data processed through this site.
This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies the site uses, what they are for, and how you can control them. It should be read together with the Privacy Policy, which is part of the Terms and Conditions.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device. Some are deleted when you close your browser (session cookies); others stay for a set period so the site can recognise your browser on a later visit (persistent cookies). Browser storage such as localStorage works in a similar way and is covered by this policy too.
Cookies are either strictly necessary — the site cannot do what you asked without them, and no consent is needed — or optional, in which case they are set only after you accept them.
Which cookies this site sets
The site sets no advertising cookies. Fonts, images and scripts are served from this domain. The one external service is Google Analytics, which we use to count visitors and see which pages are most useful — and it is loaded only if you accept analytics cookies. If you reject them, or have not answered yet, nothing is requested from Google.
When it is loaded, Google Analytics collects information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, the type of device and browser you use and your approximate location, and sets the _ga cookies listed below. Google processes this data on our behalf under its own terms and privacy policy, available at policies.google.com.
Everything stored on your device — your answer to the cookie banner and, if you accept, the Google Analytics cookies — is listed in full in the table below.
Registration, payment and abstract submission take place on the separate congress platform, which has its own cookie and privacy notices. Links to that platform open in a new tab and are marked with an outward arrow.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Category | Duration |

imscb_consentimscbucharest.com (first party) | Local storage | A copy of the same choice in your browser's local storage, for browsers that clear cookies but keep site data. | Strictly necessary | 90 days |
_gaGoogle Analytics (Google) | Cookie | Distinguishes one visitor from another so that visits can be counted. Set only if you accept analytics cookies. | Optional | 2 years |
_ga_E3NS2S9N05Google Analytics (Google) | Cookie | Keeps track of the current visit, such as which pages were viewed. Set only if you accept analytics cookies. | Optional | 2 years |
hsaccount.imscbucharest.com | Cookie | Stores session information for the current user. | Strictly necessary | Session |
usaccount.imscbucharest.com | Cookie | Stores session information for the current user. | Strictly necessary | Session |
Your choice and how to change it
On your first visit a small banner in the bottom-left corner asks you to Accept or Reject optional cookies. Both choices are equally easy to make, and rejecting has no effect on how the site works. Accepting reloads the page once so that Google Analytics can start. Your choice is kept for 90 days, after which you are asked again.
You can change your mind at any time: choose Cookie settings in the footer of any page to open the settings, where analytics can be switched on or off. Withdrawing consent deletes the Google Analytics cookies and reloads the page without it. You can also delete the cookies and the site data through your browser's settings, which has the same effect.
When you make a choice, the site records that a choice was made — the answer, the time, the policy version, the language of the page, and a truncated, salted hash of your IP address that cannot be reversed to identify you. This log exists so that we can demonstrate consent if asked to, as the law requires; it is kept on our own server and is not shared.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Every modern browser lets you see, block and delete cookies, either for all sites or for this one. The relevant settings are usually under Privacy or Site data. Blocking the consent cookie means the banner will appear on every visit, but nothing else changes.
Questions and your rights
For anything about cookies, or to exercise your rights over personal data under the GDPR, write to participants@
We may update this policy when the site changes what it stores. The date at the top is the date of the current version, and a change that introduces new optional cookies will reset your choice and ask for it again.
The rest of the fine print
The Privacy Policy sits inside the Terms and Conditions, alongside everything you agree to when you register.
